Former Executive Committee member of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and one time commissioner for sports, Enugu state, Ray Nnaji, has been expelled by the Enugu State Football Association from all football-related activities.
In a communiqué issued after its executive committee meeting held at the board room of the F.A inside Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu and signed by its Public Relations Officer, Abuchi Anueyiagu and two others, the F.A frowned on the unwholesome activities of Nnaji amounting to gross breach of the extant laws, rules, regulations and ethos of football in words, deeds and actions.
The embattled Nnaji who had earlier picked form to contest the position of executive chairman of the F.A in the scheduled elections however dismissed the purported expulsion as “a wild goose chase” and of no effect.
He faulted the FA in the state for embarking on such “reckless voyage” noting that he was already in court against the association’s anti-football activities.
“I’m happy though because, by this action, it means, they are very much scared of me and what I can do. The action is panicky and we will respond accordingly. I reject the expulsion and as far as I am concerned, it is of no effect,”

However, the Enugu FA insisted that it followed the relevant sections of the law in expelling Nnaji.
“Consequent upon the recalcitrant attitude of a small group of individuals in Enugu State whose stock in trade is misinforming the unsuspecting public on the workings of the football system as well as the unwholesome actions of Mr. Ray Nnaji, the committee, in accordance with article 65(2b) of the FIFA statutes 2014 and article 34(i & m) of the NFF statutes 2010 as applicable to Enugu State, hereby expels Mr. Ray Nnaji from all football and football related activities forthwith.”
The Enugu football house congratulated the Udi LGA football team for their successful outing at the President Cup zonal eliminations held in Umuahia recently.
It calls on all affiliates to brace up to the realities of the 2015 elections slated for Nsukka later this month.
