The Inspector General of Police, IGP Suleiman Abba, has ordered the Zonal Assistant Inspectors General of Police and Commissioners of Police at State Commands to take stern measures to secure arms and ammunition.
This, according to a release signed by the Force spokesperson, Emmanuel Ojukwu, Commissioner of Police, becomes imperative in a bid to ward off any likely or possible attempt by hoodlums or men of the underworld to attack police stations and other installations.

It would be recalled that the police boss had earlier directed audit on police armouries nationwide with a view to securing their arms and ammunition and in tandem with the mission of the IGP to provide safety and security in Nigerian communities and controlling social order.
Abba, in addition, directed all Commissioners of Police at State Commands to beef up security at banks within their jurisdictions and further collaborate with bank authorities and officials to secure their premises.
